Exploring El Garraf, Olèrdola and El Foix parks is indispensable for discovering the particular features of a protected natural environment. With an arid appearance and calcareous soil, El Garraf Park has characteristic flora and fauna, such as the Mediterranean dwarf palm and the Bonelli’s eagle, a bird of prey especially protected in recent years. The park also has other attractions, such as the Palau Novella, a construction built by an “Americano” who established an agricultural colony and that is now used as a Buddhist monastery. Olèrdola Park is noted for its iberian, Roman and medieval remains, and El Foix Park is characterised by the river and the picturesque El Foix dam, one of the few wet zones in El Penedès.
